Waves In Motion V: What I Was Chasing That Day

i've been chasing the relationship between light and water for as long as i can remember, like it's the thing that keeps pulling me back into the ocean with a camera even when conditions are rubbish and the session probably isn't going to give you much. Waves In Motion V is one of those frames that came out of a session exactly like that.

conditions weren't great, the light wasn't doing what i wanted, and i was probably about 20 minutes from calling it and heading in. and then the wave did what it did and the colour and the movement all just lined up and i got it. that's ocean photography honestly, it's 90% patience and waiting and being okay with getting nothing, and then every now and then the ocean just hands you something.

what i love about this one is the colour in the water, the way it shifts through the wave, you don't get that by editing, that's just what happens when the light is right and you're shooting at the right moment. that's the stuff i'm always trying to capture, the stuff that already exists, i'm just there to document it.

it's available in a range of sizes and honestly looks really good printed large, the detail in the water really comes through. check out the Waves In Motion V print here and find the right size for your wall.
